DUTIES IN THE TAIKALAMPPU NETWORK
The Children's Cultural Centre in Pori is part of Taikalamppu -Aladdin`s
Lamp, the national network of cultural centres for children. The aim
of this network is to develop art education for children and young people
in Finland. Taikalamppu promotes the operation of the arts centres for
children that already exist and contributes to the establishment of services
where there aren't any yet
The Ministry of Education has chosen ten members to join the network
of arts centres for children and young people, Taikalamppu, for its second
three-year period (2006-2008). In construction of the network, the aim
was to cover different regions and different genres of art; to find diverse
know-how concerning arts education; and to establish the basic structure,
facilities, and personnel.
The Taikalamppu network consists of the Annantalon taidekeskus Art Centre
(Helsinki), Cultural Services of the City of Vantaa, the LASTU School
of Architecture and Environmental Culture (Lapinlahti), the ARX art
centre for children and young people in Hämeenlinna, Jyväskylän
Kulttuuriaitta in Jyväskylä, Taidekaari in Tampere, Lapland’s
Children Culture Network in Rovaniemi, Louhimo in Seinäjoki, NUKU
in Oulu, and the Centre of Children's Culture Pori (the children's
culture network in the Satakunta region).
Each member of the network has its own area of focus for development.
The Centre of Children's Culture Pori aims to develop centres for children's
culture both locally and regionally and concentrates on developing visual
arts.
